Biocon to set up a unit near Vizag

Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Chairperson and Managing Director of pharmaceutical giant Biocon, met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at his residence on Sunday and said that the company is planning to set up a manufacturing facility in Vizag in the next six months.

During the meeting, the Biocon CMD gave a presentation to the Chief Minister on e-healthcare and its advantages and briefed him about telemedicine, e-diagnosis solutions where the data (details of the patient) will be uploaded on the cloud.

This e-diagnosis concept, she said, would be beneficial to people living in rural areas that do not have access to healthcare services and they need not travel to cities for treatment.

According to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw informed the Chief Minister that Biocon is running pilot centres in Odisha and Rajasthan. It is set to roll out 50 centres in Odisha and 100 centres in Rajasthan on a pilot basis.

Responding to this, the Chief Minister told Kiran Mazumdar Shaw that AP is prepared to roll out 100-200 pilot centres.
