Cadila sets up library in Bhat village

Cadila Pharmaceuticals sets up a library in the village of Bhat to help the youth there inculcate reading habits and crack competitive exams for a brighter future.

Ahmedabad, September 29, 2019: As a part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Cadila Pharmaceuticals has set up a library in Bhat village in association with the Gram Panchayat.

On finding out a lack of resources for students to study from, Cadila formed a youth group of boys and girls from the village to help set up the library and help students crack various competitive exams necessary to secure govt. jobs.

The Gram Panchayat provided space for the library, while Cadila contributed the reading material and facilities such as chairs, tables and shelves. The library houses 250 books in Hindi, Gujarati, and English. The books will help the students prepare for UPSC, Railways, Banking and other competitive exams.

“This is an initiative to give the talented students a platform to make a successful career. They shouldn’t miss out on any opportunities because of lack of resources. We, hence, decided to take this initiative where students can crack competitive exams and be at par with the rest.” Dilip Chauhan, from the CSR team, said.

The next step in this initiative will be to bring in experts and counsellors from this field to help the students crack competitive exams. The experts will also help them in honing their communication, presentation and comprehensive skills to help them crack group discussions and interviews of competitive exams. The Cadila team aims at helping students clearing these exams within a span of three years.

Cadila has always been active in its CSR initiatives. On World Environment Day, 2019 they pledged to plant 100,000 saplings in 1000 days and have already planted around 40,000 saplings. They also organized a self-help group amongst the women of Bhat to help them make a livelihood for themselves through stitching. Cadila Pharma regularly conducts health camps, cleanliness drives, women empowerment programs, children education session etc. in villages in Gujarat.

Cadila Pharmaceuticals Ltd. is one of the largest privately held pharmaceutical companies. Over the past six decades, we have been developing and manufacturing affordable medicines for patients around the world.
