Department of pharmacy, Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Amarkantak, M.P organized World Pharmacists day on 25th September, 2016.

New Delhi, December 10, 2016: Department of Pharmacy, Indira Gandhi National Tribal University (IGNTU), Amarkantak, M.P organized World Pharmacists day on 25th September, 2016 on the theme – ‘Pharmacists: Caring for You’. The Chief Guest of the programme Prof T.V. Kattimani, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of IGNTU inaugurated the function by lighting the lamp along with other dignitaries present on the occasion. In his address to the gathering on this occasion he said that research on pharmaceuticals should be encouraged to produce a medicine which is free from side effects. Dr K Srinivasa Rao welcomed the dignitaries, guests and delegates to the programme. Prof N.S.Hari Narayana Moorthy, the Chief Speaker of the programme, Dean and Head of the pharmacy, highlighted the role of pharmacists in health care. The Guest of Honour, Prof S.K. Baral, Registrar of IGNT University enlightened the audience about the importance of conducting such events and the role of pharmacists. Special guest of the programme Prof. Alok Shtrotriya, Director of academics & Research cell of Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, enlightened the audience by stating the importance of pharmacists in serving the society. On this occasion, Pharmacists Oath was also read by the students to remember the responsibility they have as a pharmacist in serving the society. On this day, the Department’s Pharmacy museum was inaugurated by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of the University, where in displayed different types of pharmaceuticals/medicines including herbal drugs available in the market for the education of students and common men. The pharmacy department also conducted several cultural activities on the theme – Pharmacists: Caring for you and prizes were distributed to the winners of the events. Finally, the programme was ended with vote of thanks by Ms. Sunita Minz, Asst Professor of pharmacy to all the dignitaries, guests/invitees and participants of the programme.
