As per WHO, breast cancer is the most frequent cancer among women, affecting more than 2.09 million women globally every year.  In India, as per Globocan 2018 data, 1,62,468 breast cancer cases were registered in 2018. In spite of the growing awareness about the incidence of breast cancer, most women are unaware about the need for regular self breast examination, it’s importance in early detection and successful treatment. Breast cancer is one of the cancers with best cure rates. Detecting breast cancer early increases the chance of cure. When detected in the early stages, low risk breast cancer patients have the possibility of avoiding aggressive treatments like Chemotherapy.

The event will touch upon aspects of self breast exam, tips to identify breast cancer before it’s too late, signs to look for and common questions on breast cancer prevention. Moderated by Dr V Sreekanth Reddy, the event will comprise an esteemed panel of Oncology experts, cancer survivors and influencers. The panelists for the event are Dr Suresh Babu, Dr Arunima Chandra, Dr Manjiri Bakre, Dr Sandeep Nayak,  Dr Bharath G, Dr Harsha Doddihal, Ms Meghana Muskan, Mr Aji Joseph, and Pinkathon Ambassador Ms Swati Mukund.

Commenting on the event, Dr Sandeep Nayak, Oncologist and Founder, Samrohana Foundation said ” The idea behind hosting this event is to create conversation and build awareness about the need for self breast examination. A lot of women are unaware about the simple steps for breast self exam and how it can help in early detection. Through this event, we invite women and men to be part of this discussion and educate their loved ones about breast cancer treatment, detection and care”
