Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) focuses on Medical electronics with its 1st edition of Medical Electronics Innovation Summit

· Medical Electronics Innovation Summit to be integrated with Make In India

· India’s medical electronics market will grow to $11.7 billion by 2017

· MeitY to create awareness about growth in the field of Medical Electronics and its role in Medical Application.

Mumbai, September 22, 2016: The Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India will be launching the first interactive discussion meeting – Medical Electronics Innovation Summit to promote development and manufacturing of medical electronics within the country, at IIT Bombay in Mumbai on 22nd and 23rd September 2016. The Summit will be inaugurated by Shri P. P. Chaudhary, Hon. Minister of State, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology along with Smt. ArunaSundararajan, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and Sri Kamineni Srinivas, Hon. Minister for Health, Government of Andhra Pradesh and will be attended by medical directors, data analysts, medical information officers, CCIOs, technology specialist, medical technicians, key decision makers, researchers, etc from the healthcare sector.

Apart from the renowned dignitaries, the event will speak key speakers such as like Dr. Debashis Dutta, ‎Group Coordinator- R&D (IT), Ministry of Communications and Information, Mr. Sivan Menon, Chief Technology Officer, GE Digital , Dr. RajendraPatankar, M. The Government has taken various initiatives to attract more investment in the electronic sector in India and is looking at Healthcare sector with growth prospects in medical electronics. To understand the crucial role of Electronics in Medical application, Medical Electronics Innovation Summit is one of the initiatives in the series of proactive measures taken by MeitY. The emphasis of the summit will be towards innovation in the field of Medical Electronics, Health Informatics & Telemedicine Applications. This summit is powered by CeBIT, world’s leading high-tech event from Germany, with whom MeitY as partnered with for this initiative.

India’s medical electronics market will grow to $11.7 billion by 2017, as against the current valuation of $6.5 billion, if helped by increased awareness for healthcare delivery system in the country. The growth is attributed to the increased awareness about the benefits of healthcare delivery system, lifestyle diseases, exploding population and increased middle-class income. The next generation technologies like wireless body networks, bio-sensors, micro fluids, micro electro mechanical systems and Nano-electro mechanical systems are going to create a revolution in the field of advanced diagnosis for creating a better healthcare delivery system in India.

This year’s Medical Electronics Innovation 2016 Summit with intellectual guidance from MeitY, will focus on building indigenous innovations in the health sector which will be in sync with the ‘MAKE IN INDIA’ initiative. Our partnership with organizations such as STPI and CeBIT India, this summit will bring forth the new ideas, trends and learnings from past case studies in the field of medical electronics.”
