Mumbai, December, 22, 2021: The recent fire accidents have again turned the focus on the appalling lack of dedicated burn facility in Mumbai, considering Mumbai population and development there should be more dedicated burn ward in Government & Private hospitals too. At Present, Mumbai has a burn and intensive burn care unit at Masina Hospital and National Burn centre in Airoli.
In view of the increasing number of fire incidents in Mumbai and adjoining cities, a burn unit has been started at Zyanova Shalby Hospital in Ghatkopar. The burn unit was inaugurated by Vasant Jadhav Director of Zyanova Group & Reny Varghese CAO of Zynova Shalby Hospital. Now citizens from Thane to Sion, Andheri to Powai will benefit from this burn unit. Plastic surgeons and psychiatrists are available in the burn unit of Zynova Shalby Hospital and will treat 70 to 80% of burn patients. The inauguration was presided over by plastic surgeon Dr. Dr. Amit Balotia, General Surgeon Hemant Patel, Dr. Urvi Maheshwari, Psychiatrist Dr. Dr. Sayali Mahadik, Dietician Soumi Mukherjee and Business head Ashish Sharma from Zyanova Shalby Hospital were present. Giving more information about this, Ashish Sharma said, “In a densely populated city like Mumbai, there is a great need for a modern burn unit. Recognizing this need, we have started this burn unit. Accidents, Vehicles crashes, explosions, mechanical accidents and regular fires all burn people severely, all of which will be treated at Zynova Shalby Hospital.”
