People enthusiastically participated at the ‘Tension Ka Test’ across Columbia Asia Hospitals on the occasion of World Hypertension Day

Bengaluru 20th May 2019: On the occasion of World Hypertension Day, Columbia Asia Hospitals organized a series of activities. Taking the theme ahead Columbia Asia Hospitals conducted ‘#Tension Ka Test’ – Know Your Numbers and also set up a free massage chair to relieve stress and free BP check up for people walking in to the hospital.

World Hypertension Day is observed on May 17 every year to increase the awareness of Hypertension and related disease. Hypertension or High Blood Pressure (HBP) is often referred to as the “silent killer” because there are no symptoms. Many people do not find out that they have high blood pressure until they have problems with their heart, kidney, or brain.

Taking up #Tension Ka Test helps in knowing your Blood Pressure numbers. High blood pressure is caused by various lifestyle factors and is also evidently higher in patients who are obese and smoke very often. Empowering patients to monitor and control their BP will keep them at bay from many lifestyle diseases.

By providing free massages to the people for relieving stress at all its four hospitals (Hebbal, Yeshwanthpur, Whitefield and Sarjapur Road) in Bangalore, Columbia Asia created awareness among people towards the importance of various stress relieving activities like massages, yoga, meditation etc. and educated them on how important it is to adopt them in their day to day lives.

“By getting your blood pressure checked, being aware of hypertension, and then controlling it, is the only way forward. Changing your lifestyle, exercise, good eating habits is an important measure to control hypertension. Depending on the degree of hypertension and the doctors advise, medication may be prescribed which needs to be taken on a regular basis. This is the best way to make sure you remain healthy, said Dr. Nandakumar Jairam, CEO, Chairman and Group Medical Director, Columbia Asia Hospitals in his address
