President Of Zimbabwe HE Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa signed an MOU with the UNSDG Health Partnership to launch 100 Primary Healthcare Clinics and Marketplace for affordable medicines during UN General Assembly 2019 in New York.

New Delhi, Octomber 08, 2019: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between The UNSDG Health Partnership and Government Of Zimbabwe recently during UN General Assembly 2019 in New York. The UNSDG Health Partnership has entered into an MOU with the Government of Zimbabwe to add 100 new Smart primary Healthcare centres that are digitally enabled with telehealth, telemedicine facilities across Zimbabwe and provide affordable and quality healthcare to patients from the economically and socially weaker sections of society. Also present at the summit were Her Excellency Auxillia Mnangagwa, The First Lady Of Zimbabwe, Mr. Peter Sands, Executive Director, Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria , Dr Obadio Moyo , Minister of Health and Family Zimbabwe , H.E. Dr. Mthuli Ncube, Minister of Minister for Finance , Government of Zimbabwe, H.E. Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Minister for Health & Family Welfare,Science & Technology and Earth Sciences, India, H. E. Abdul Rahman Bin Mohammed Al Owais, Minister of Health & Prevention, United Arab Emirates, Dr Seth Berkeley, CEO, Gavi-The Vaccine Alliance and Dr Chitwan Malhotra, Director UNSDG Health Partnership.

The MOU represents a landmark for primary health delivery and UHC in Zimbabwe said Dr Chitwan Malhotra, Director UNSDG Health Partnership and India Africa Health Partnership. The world has 11 years left to make good on its sustainable development goals, Universal health coverage is key to ensuring that happens and there is an urgent need to double health coverage between now and 2030 or 5 billion people will be unable to access health care.

HE Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa, Hon’ble President of Zimbabwe said, “Development on the healthcare front is the need of the hour today. We welcome support from UNSDG Health Partnership for helping us cater to the need for quality healthcare with 100 primary healthcare clinics and marketplace for affordable medicines. Our government is working towards creating better medical facilities for the public and this collaboration with UNSDG will go a long way in fulfilling the vision of universal health coverage.

With innovative products, equipment for diagnostics and medicines that facilitate healthcare intervention and provide affordable healthcare, The UNSDG Health Partnership has collaborated with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India as a strategic provider for the marketplace of affordable medicines, equipment, medical devices and smart ambulances in Africa.

UNSDG Health Partnership has partnered with the Government of Zimbabwe to help the country efficiently manage its public healthcare facilities through sustainable health financing and global health delivery mechanisms.

A collaboration to run the Mobile Medical Care Unit Program to screen large sections of our population, especially under-privileged sections, for non-communicable diseases (NCDs) has also been signed between the UNSDG Health Partnership and Government Of Zimbabwe. Mobile Medical Care Units (buses), fully loaded with the screening technology including ECG, Stress Test, Echocardiogram, Ultrasound, Mammogram, Pap Smear and blood sample collection will be operated in Various urban as well as rural areas of Zimbabwe.
