Shaina NC sets up Women’s Helpline Stree Sanman

· Big, bold step on International Women’s Day

· Says stalkers, rogue elements must not go scot free

· Integrated project with website, phone and Whatsapp messaging

· Tollfree Helpline Number: 18002124434

Mumbai, March 09, 2017: On the eve of the International Women’s Day, noted social activist and BJP leader announced the setting up of a Helpline called Stree Sanman for assisting women in distress and who are targets of harassment via social media and mobile phone messages.

Shaina, herself a recent victim of stalking on her cell phone, said the aim of Stree Sanman project is to ensure that troubled women get justice and the rogue elements do not go scot free.

“I dared to complain to police and I am thankful to Mumbai Police, specially the Cyber Crime Cell, for acting promptly. I sincerely appeal to all women and girls to have the courage to come out and teach the stalkers a befitting lesson,” she said.

The toll free number that has been registered for Stree Sanman is: 18002124434

Through Stree Sanman project, Shaina explained, “our message is loud and clear.” “In a civilised society, stalking is not acceptable, for any self-respecting, dignified woman. The perverts should be punished.”

Stree Sanman’s aim is to encourage women to speak out about any untoward incidents and vulgarity that they are subjected to, she said and pointed out: “I, myself, being a victim of stalking, realize the trauma that a woman can go through.”

“We at I Love Mumbai and Stree Sanman will provide all assistance to move the police and offer legal assistance whenever necessary,” she said.

She said it is prudent for us to file a police complaint and take the stalkers to task and to check repetition of such despicable acts

“It gives me immense pride to launch this helpline on the eve of International Woman’s Day. And I hope to help every woman who faces such abuse to come out fearlessly and bring the culprits to book,” Shaina said

It will be an integrated project with a website, phone line and Whatsapp feature. A backup team will monitor and take action.
