Sipra Innovative Pharma Research Awards Presented To Young Scientists in India

New Delhi, September 04, 2016: As a part of promotion of research activities, the Board of SIPRA under the leadership of Dr. Satyanarayana has instituted “SIPRA Innovative Pharma Research Awards” for young Researchers working in the area of Pharmaceutical Sciences. The Awards are meant for encouraging students, Young Research Scholars, academicians all over India in carrying out Innovative research on par with International standards.

SIPRA LABS is USFDA inspected and DSIR approved Contract Research Organization engaged in Drug Development Support Services to the Pharma Industries. Prof Javed Iqbal, Eminent scientist and Director, Institute of life sciences, University of Hyderabad gave away the awards to the young scientists from all over the country at Sipra labs, Sanathnagar, Hyderabad on July 2nd 2016. The Jury consists of Prof. Reddanna, Dr. Nalini Sastry, Dr Satya Valiveti, Dr. P.N. Rao, Dr. S.P. Kurani, Dr. P. Raghu, Dr. Anupama Koneru, Dr. Gopal Vaidyanathan, Dr. S. Damodharan who have evaluated the presentations.

Students, Research scholars and young scientists from 15 states in India have participated in the competition. About 100 best papers were selected for Poster presentation after four stages of screening from 400 submissions and out of them 5 were awarded. Mr.Amruta Rao, Drug Controller, Govt. of Telangana has declared the results. The awards consist of a cash prize and citation. Mr. Rajesh Thipparaboina, NIPER, Hyderabad won a Gold Medal, Mr. Midhun Kumar Duddu, Andhra University College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Andhra Pradesh won a Silver Medal and Three Bronze Medals were won by Mr. Umesh D. Laddha, R. C. Patel, Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Shirpur, Maharashtra , Mrs. Lakshmi Bhavani, University College of Science, Saifabad, Osmania University, Hyderabad , Mr. Sarwar Beg, University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, UGC Centre of Advanced Studies, Punjab. The Gold Medal contains Rs.60,000/- cash prize, Silver medal contains Rs.40,000/- cash prize and three Bronze Medals contains Rs.20,000/- cash prize each.

The event was inaugurated by Dr. Lanka Srinivas, Advisor, Ministry of Commerce, Govt. of India. Mr. E. Damodar, Inspector General of Police (Legal), Dr Jayant Tagore, Managing Director, Synthokem pharma and Dr.Dinesh Patel, Managing Director & CEO, Themis Medicare Ltd, Dr. Venkata Reddy, former Drug Controller of Andhra Pradesh and Mr. Venkat Jasti, Chairman, Suven Life Sciences , several leaders of pharma Industry and academia have also participated in the function.

In addition, open-day was celebrated, where visitors from the academia and industry was allowed to visit the laboratories of Sipra on 2nd July, 2016 and a JOB MELA for registered students with participation from Hetero Drugs, Suven life sciences, NATCO Laboratories and Sipra Labs was also conducted.
