The festive season around Vijay Dashami including Durga Puja and Navratras embodies the celebration of victory of good over evil. It is also a time when people come together with strong fervour and celebrations. However, in the age of drastic climate change which is being echoed around the world by experts, children, and activists, all occasions of human celebrations need some redefining and newer trends should be set. While these occasions involve huge energy consumption, the current situation of Air and Water Pollution gets significantly impacted by human action. Through one of our initiatives of  MakingIndiaBreathe Movement, we are asking people to re-think about responsible ways of celebrations that can reduce air pollution. Also, we should try reducing the usage of one-time plastic, plug food wastage, and look at ways of eco-friendly immersion of idols. We should not stop celebrating and cultural practices are of great value, but aligned to the spirit of Dushera, armed with consciousness and scientific reality, we can celebrate differently to win over the evil of pollution. Kamal Narayan Omer, CEO, IHW Council
The festive season is around the corner. Vijay -Dashami including Durga Puja and Navratras embodies the celebration of victory of good over evil.  While these occasions involve huge energy consumption, the current situation of Air and Water Pollution gets significantly impacted by human action. Kids and old age people should be taken care of, they can use pollution mask and protect themselves from hazardous quality of air. We can celebrate green duseehra by using eco-friendly material in the Ravanaa idol and abolishing the usage of  crackers. We should also keep in mind that heart patients get affected due to the noise pollution.
