Wockhardt Hospital conducts Nursing Leadership Programme

Ø  3 day program for nurses conducted in Western India, to strengthen the leadership skills 

Mumbai, September 05, 2018: Wockhardt hospital, a reputed chain of tertiary care super specialty hospitals in India has taken a step to further strengthen leadership skills of their nursing staff.

The hospital conducted its 9th Annual Nursing Leadership Program, Phase I at its Mira Road facility. Twenty-six nurses from across the facilities in, Nagpur, Nasik, Vashi (Navi Mumbai), Rajkot, Surat, South Mumbai & North Mumbai were identified for this leadership program. The entire program is divided into two sessions with a four-month break in between, for implementing the learning at their work place.

Commenting on the initiative, Zahabiya Khorakiwala, Managing Director, Wockhardt Hospitals, said, “Nursing Leadership Programme at Wockhardt Hospitals is a unique way to recognise the managerial dimensions in nursing. The programme is designed to train potential leaders in key competencies. With this programme we aim to boost confidence and build them as role models for the budding nursing staff.”

Wide range of topics were covered at the session including leadership qualities, nurses as brand ambassadors, clinical governance, HR nursing engagement, Unit/ward preparation and management of organizational expectations, developing the individual’s quality, patient safety, Nursing Governance Departmental Vision, Team building, etc.

Dr. Clive Fernandes, Group Clinical Director, Wockhardt Group Hospitals, said, “The nursing team is the core strength of the healthcare industry. We aim further to enhance this strength with the yearlong Leadership programme and build nursing ambassadors. Hence we have developed this unique in-house program providing leadership skill enhancement training thereby developing them into ‘Nurse Leaders’.
