25 year old youth donates his heart and saves the life of a teacher

The heart was transported from Sparsh Hospital, Yeshwanthpur to M S Ramaiah Narayana Heart Centre 

Bengaluru, June 19, 2019:  58 year old school teacher from Byadagi in Haveri District gets a new lease of life as he undergoes heart transplant at M S Ramaiah Narayana Heart Centre-a unit managed by Narayana Health. The donor is a 25 year old youth who had met with a road accident on 16th June 2019. He was declared brain-dead today at Sparsh Hospital, Yeshwanthpur.

The heart was retrieved at Sparsh Hospital, Yeshwanthpur and was transported to M S Ramaiah Narayana Heart Centre, Mathikere.

The recipient was suffering from ischemic dilated cardiomyopathy.  He was on medical management at M S Ramaiah Narayana Heart Centre. After a thorough evaluation by the team of cardiologists and cardiac surgeons, the patient was advised a heart transplant. He had registered with Jeevasarthakate (ZCCK) on 8th May 2019. The patient was lucky to get the matching heart within 40 days of his registration.
