Fortis Hospital Shalimar Bagh celebrates the victory of patients who have undergone lifesaving cosmetic surgeries and defeated challenges

New Delhi, August 08, 2015: The Cosmetic, Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery team of doctors at Fortis Hospital Shalimar Bagh led by Dr. Richie Gupta, Director Cosmetic, Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery,felicitated their patients who have exhibited death defying courage to opt for procedures that have saved their lives.

The patients come from varied backgrounds and have been faced with diverse circumstances. In the medical challenges they were faced with they have taken the courage to opt for procedures in Cosmetic & Reconstructive surgeries that has made them victorious in overcoming what could have been a fatal outcome. Mohit Chitkara was hit by a tractor and both his legs were crushed. He went into shock due to severe blood loss and later in severe inflammation of the body due to infection. Mohit had to undergo multiple orthopedic and reconstructive surgeries. At one time, even amputations were considered. Exhibiting sheer determination and courage, he is walking again today.Yash Gaba and Ankush Pandey were injured in road accidents and suffered severe jaws and facial injuries.Samik Kalia was born with a rare jaw, head and facial deformity, in which most of the skull bone sutures are fused, resulting in severe deformity and inability of brain to expand, causing rise in intracranial pressure, paralysis and death. Only 300 cases of this Kleiblatschadel deformity (Clover leaf skull) have been reported in literature over past 100 years. Underwent complex craniofacial surgery with removal and remodeling of skull bones and fixing these back, protecting the eyes and brain.

Ever since Manpreet gained awareness of herself, she identified with a female gender. Though her body was that of a male, she always thought of herself as a female trapped in a man’s body. She underwent extensive analysis and diagnosis at Gender Identity Clinic at Fortis Shalimar Bagh.
