New Delhi, August 06, 2025: As part of a major initiative to democratize access to advanced surgical technologies, Dr. Sudhir Prem Srivastava, founding chairman of SSI group of companies has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to donate SSI Mantra Surgical Robotic System, India’s first and only indigenously developed robotic surgery system to the Sri Madhusudan Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (SMSIMSR) in Chikkaballapur, Karnataka. The MoU signing ceremony, held at the SS Innovations International Headquarters in Gurugram, was graced by the esteemed presence of Shri Sadguru Madhusudan Sai.

This initiative aims to establish a world-class Robotic Cardiac Surgery Centre at SMSIMSR and develop the institution into South India’s premier training hub for robotic surgeries across multiple specialties, including adult and pediatric cardiac surgery, thoracic, general surgery, urology, gynecology, and head and neck surgery.

Sri Madhusudan Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (SMSIMSR), committed to selfless service and excellence in healthcare, shares this vision by providing world-class facilities and compassionate care to patients irrespective of their economic capability. This partnership not only strengthens equitable access to cutting-edge surgical care but will also accelerate knowledge exchange, clinical training, and joint research initiatives to expand the reach and efficacy of robotic surgery in India.

Further, this partnership between Dr. Sudhir Srivastava and SMSIMSR represents a confluence of technological excellence and humanitarian values. As part of the collaboration, Dr. Srivasatava will support the first 100 robotic surgical procedures at SMSIMSR, cover the full maintenance costs of the SSI Mantra System for the next five years, and lead advanced training programs for cardiac and multi-specialty surgical teams at the institute, ensuring both immediate impact and long-term capacity building.

By combining cutting-edge, indigenously developed technology with a mission rooted in inclusive and accessible healthcare, we are taking a meaningful step toward transforming surgical care in India. The ultimate goal is not just to advance the field of robotic surgery, but to ensure that its life-saving benefits reach underserved and rural communities that need it the most.”

This partnership marks a new chapter in our journey to make quality healthcare a fundamental right, not a privilege. By integrating advanced surgical technologies with a compassionate care model, we are bridging the gap between innovation and inclusion.”

Driving this collaboration is a shared commitment to advancing healthcare equity and social responsibility. With a mission to deliver compassionate, world-class care irrespective of a patient’s financial means, SMSIMSR will now be empowered to bring the benefits of cutting-edge robotic surgery to underserved and rural communities across the region.
