Bengaluru, March 07, 2022: With an aim to provide quality healthcare to underserved women community, Fortis Hospital, Bannerghatta Road and Richmond Road along with Vidya Foundation conducted a health screening and educative session for around 200 women.

VIDYA is a registered not-for-profit organization working for the education, empowerment and transformation of less privileged children, youth and women through micro-level intervention.  The CSR activity aims to acknowledge the health and wellbeing of women who are working as domestic help and security personnel by conducting a series of health screenings over a period of one year. As part of the screening program, women were screened for regular blood test, vitamin D deficiency, folic acid and B12 and were provided a set of vitamin supplements, mask and sanitiser for their better health and hygiene. An educative session on Nutritional sufficiency, menstrual health and other issues plaguing women in this age group and background was also conducted by Dr Gayathri Kamath- Senior Consultant- Obstetrics & Gynaecology- Fortis Hospital, Bannerghatta Road.

Dr Gayathri Kamath- Senior Consultant- Obstetrics & Gynaecology- Fortis Hospital, Bannerghatta Road, said, “Women from these backgrounds and community pay little or no attention to their own health & nutrition and often complain of tiredness, fatigue and lassitude. While they work as a help for a lot of houses, their own health is always taken for a toss in the process of catering to the needs of their families. I believe, it is a great start to undertake the healthcare needs of this community to help them become empowered through health.”

Dr Manish Mattoo-Zonal Director-Fortis Hospitals, Bangalore, said, “We believe a healthy woman is an empowered woman, therefore we want to take care of the health of women from these communities who are often deprived of proper health check-ups. We would continue to conduct regular health screenings for them and understand their healthcare needs to be able to customize a healthcare program to care for their health on a regular basis. Fortis Hospitals, Bangalore have always looked forward to build a healthy community around us, this is a small step towards achieving our vision.”

The health screening at Vidya Foundation will be followed by a free Master Medical Health Check-up Camp on 8th March 2022 for all the women beneficiaries in the Preventive health check-up department at the hospital.
