Amrita Hospital Kochi to Host India’s first Educational Course of the International Stereotactic Radiosurgery Society

KOCHI , August 24, 2023: Amrita Hospital Kochi, a prominent healthcare institution in South Asia, is set to host India’s first Educational Course of the International Stereotactic Radiosurgery Society. The event, organized by Amrita Hospital (Kochi and Faridabad) in collaboration with the International Stereotactic Radiosurgery Society (ISRS), marks a significant step forward in medical education and innovation. This ground-breaking initiative, titled “Advancements in Stereotactic Radiosurgery for Managing Benign Intracranial Tumors, Skull Base Tumors, and Abdominal Genitourinary and Gynecological Cancers: A Comprehensive Radiosurgery Educational Course,” is scheduled to take place from August 24 to 26, 2023.

Esteemed medical institutions including the Indian Society of Neuro-oncology (ISNO), Cochin Oncology Group (COG), Association of Radiation Oncology, India (AROI), Neurological Society of India (NSI), and Indian Society of Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery (ISSFN) have extended their endorsement to this pioneering course. With a focus on imparting profound insights into the diverse applications of stereotactic irradiation in the management of various medical conditions, this event is poised to redefine medical education in India.

The three-day event will convene renowned experts from across the globe at Amrita Hospital Kochi. The program will be inaugurated by  Dr.Prem Nair, Group Medical Director of Amrita Hospitals and Provost- Amrita Institue of medical sciences. Notable figures leading the course include Professor Rakesh Jalali, Department of Radiation Oncology, Medical Director and Head of Apollo Proton Cancer Centre, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, and Professor Debnarayan Dutta, Professor and Head of the Department of Radiation Oncology, Amrita Hospital Kochi . Dr. Mikhial Chernov, Chair of the ISRS Scientific Committee, will also grace the event with his presence. Eminent faculties participating include Professor Selcuk Peter from the CyberKnife Centre in Turkey, Professor Ian McCutcheon from MD Anderson Cancer Centre, and Dr. Rupesh Kotecha from Miami Cancer Centre, USA.
