Bengaluru, November 24, 2015: Apollo Health & Lifestyle Limited (Apollo), a wholly owned subsidiary of Apollo Hospital Enterprise Limited and Ramsay Sime Darby Healthcare (Ramsay) announced a collaboration today to offer world class Diabetes care to people of Malaysia. This partnership is aimed at reducing the burden of disease for the people of Malaysia.
Malaysia with 3.2M Diabetics has one of the highest diabetes prevalence rates amongst adults worldwide – estimates indicate that 1 in 6 adults have Diabetes. Globally, Diabetes and its complications caused 1.2 Million deaths in 2014 – the highest mortality rate across the world. 54% of these deaths are estimated to be in people under the age of 60.
Keeping in mind the startling situation, Apollo and Ramsay aim to pool their resources and expertise to provide world class care to people with diabetes in Malaysia. The strategic intent is to start these services in Ramsay Sime Darby Health Care owned hospitals, and expand across neighbourhood clinics. They also aim to work closely with local communities to improve screening, early detection, awareness and management of Diabetes amongst the general population.

We will begin this collaboration with a state-of-the-art Centre of Excellence to be set up in Subang Jaya Medical Centre, our flagship hospital. This centre would offer a full range of world class outpatient, inpatient, and a comprehensive set of supporting services to address Diabetes. This centre would be named Apollo Ramsay Sime Darby Health Care Centre for Obesity, Diabetes and Endocrinology (“ARCODE”).
