Apollo Sugarin association with Together against Diabetes Foundation (TADF)organized Continuous Medical Education

Bangalore, Sep 07, 2015: Apollo Sugar, the single specialty diabetes and endocrine healthcare service provider from the Apollo Hospitals Group, brought together the best minds to discuss a wide range of subjects on diabetes and its co-morbidities at the Continuous Medical Education(CME)on Sunday, Sep 6, 2015 at ITC Gardenia. The CME was marked by the presence of Dr C SDwarakanath- Organizing Chairman at Apollo Sugar,Mr. Gagan Bhalla,Chief Executive Officer, Apollo Sugar Clinics Ltd and Dr. Raja Selvarajan,Organizing Secretary. The workshop was addressed by a panel of eminent speakers across the country and was attended by almost 250 doctors from in and around Bangalore.

TheCME was an initiative by Apollo Sugar, ranked number one player amongst diabetes clinics in the country (as per Times Health Survey, July 2015) in association with Together against Diabetes Foundation(TADF) for endocrinologists, diabetologists and physicians alike.Apollo Sugar Clinical Update, 2015 was a full day event that highlighted the new initiatives & advances in the field of Diabetes now available in the country.From topics like Diabetes in Pregnancy – Management & its complications from preconception to postnatal period;torecent advances in monitoring and management, the workshop touched upon vast number of topics related to Diabetes.

Addressing the gathering, Mr Gagan Bhalla, Chief Executive Officer, Apollo Sugar said, “Keeping in mind the significant net immigration into the city, the stressful lifestyle and long hours of the working and ageing populations, in our estimates Bangalore has witnessed the addition of 750k-1M diabetics added to its ranks over the last 5 years. As per Apollo Sugar’s internal experiences and observations across the cities of Bangalore, Chennai & Hyderabad conducting diabetic screening activities and care delivery, it comes forth that Bangalore has by far the highest prevalence of diabetics among the three key cities of South.”

Dr Dwarkanath on the occasion said, “With the kind of increase seen in the number of people with related lifestyle disorders of diabetes, obesity etc., the numbers of healthcare practitioners is not scaling up in proportion to provide the right treatment to these increasing numbers. Such scientific sessions and CMEs help all of us in the medical fraternity to come together and align on better treatment protocols for patients.”

The series of seminars, starting with ambulatory glucose profiling has been commence with an aim to impart education and know-how on improved patient care, incorporating the latest in technology.

Dr Raja Selvarajan commented,“Introduction of new technologies such as ambulatory glucose profiling, takes us one step closer in extending the effective, evidence-based diabetes management solutions, to the people. How this is important is that, for appropriate patients it provides new, deeper insights to the doctors and related experts, who are then better equipped to provide not only better and accurate treatment but also guide to a care solution, apt for the patients.”
