AstraZeneca wins Corporate CSR Best Practices Awardat the 20th NHRD National Conference Is also a finalist in the HR Best Practices category for its focus on Gender Diversity

Bengaluru, December 14, 2016: AstraZeneca Pharma India Limited, leading bio- pharmaceutical company was announced the ‘Winner’ in the Corporate CSR Best Practices category at the 20th NHRD National Conferenceheld on December 8th and 9th at the Royal Senate, Palace Grounds.The award was given in recognition for the company’sCSR initiative – The Young Health Programme (YHP), acommunity based initiative focused on primary prevention of non-communicable diseases in young people. AstraZeneca was also a finalist in the category of HR Best Practices for its focus on ‘gender diversity’.

Commenting on the company’s win, Smita Saha, Vice President – HR, AstraZeneca Pharma India Limited (AZPIL) said, “I accept this award on behalf of an incredible team at AstraZeneca and our valued partners, whose passion and dedication have played a big role in where we are today. I would like to thank the National HRD Network for thishonour. This award reinforces our commitment to target the various risk behaviours that lead to non-communicable diseases in young people, especially those in marginalised communities.”

The conference theme wastitled ‘Spirit of Entrepreneurship’ andaimed to addressthe curiosity of young companies that wish to build the DNA of large organisations and the large ones who could learn from nimble young firms.The two-day event brought together international and national speakers of eminence, well-known HR leaders, CHRO’S, CXO’S, entrepreneurs, academics, students and NGOs.
