BioAsia 2016 will be organized with the theme of ‘Leveraging India to succeed globally’ and shall focus on ‘CONNECTING THE DOTS’ to draw a distinct road-map to propel the growth of healthcare and life sciences growth. SHAKTHI NAGAPPAN, CEO, BIOASIA”The healthcare system worldwide is constrained with increased burden of diseases demanding low cost affordable therapeutic and diagnostic solutions on one side and also effective healthcare delivery solutions on the other. With the confluence of technology innovations and growing health awareness, healthcare markets around the globe are transitioning towards connected high-quality care that is more accessible and more affordable. Data suggests that over 500 innovative technology start-ups in India are working towards transforming healthcare and as a global Industry-Government platform committed to innovation, BioAsia through the ‘HEALTHCARE START-UP SHOWCASE’ targets at spotlighting the top innovations from India to the audience from over 50 countries in attendance at BioAsia”

This initiative is being organized in partnership with TiE and supported by organizations like HYSEA as well. Start-ups working in the area of m-health & diagnostic mobile apps, patient data management and ehealth records, 3D prosthetics and 3D Bio printing and many more, can be part of the event and showcase their offering. To further promote knowledge sharing for the start-ups, organizers are offering special discount on registration fee for start-ups who wish to participate in the conference apart from the showcase.

While India has been ranked as the 3rd largest startup ecosystem, globally, healthcare is starting to emerge as a significant area of innovation for startups in India. According to a recently published data from the Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC), Government of India, the country is poised to scale-up to 1500-2000 start-ups in the next 2-3 years.

Reemphasizing the significance of technology in healthcare, MR. BVR MOHAN REDDY, FOUNDER AND EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN CYIENT LIMITED AND CHAIRMAN NASSCOM said”Technology disruption has become the common denominator in every industry. Technology has further become all pervasive and healthcare is one of the most prominent sectors where technology will play a major role in near future. The scenario presents tremendous opportunities for newer companies to bring-in disruption in the way healthcare is delivered. BioAsia, which is a leading platform for the biotech and Life sciences industry has successfully established its industry connect over the past 12 editions. I am hopeful that the dedicated healthcare startup track in the coming edition; will encourage and promote more ideas around healthcare solutions thereby benefitting the industry, startups alike and more importantly humanity at large.”

When all major companies across different industries, globally, are vying to leverage technology and innovation to edge over their competitors, Life Sciences sector is not far behind either. In fact, the tables are turning around where life sciences companies are no longer trying to seek the attention of tech giants; instead, the technology firms are investing huge in the life sciences domain.

Cloud computing along with big data promise to transform healthcare by making the rich health data into actionable data. Interestingly, a number of global technology companies are realizing the huge opportunity and are re-organizing their strategies and structure to make healthcare and life sciences a central epitome of their future growth.

Realizing this immense potential, BioAsia will bring togetherpharma and biotech companies, clinicians and medical practitioners, hospitals and telemedicine experts, tech companies, venture capitalists and PE firms, Big Data and Analytics providers, app developers and entrepreneurs, academia and scientists_; under one roof to connect the dots and discuss the emerging connected health opportunities. The participating startups will also benefit from the collaboration opportunities with other participants and investors.
