By 2030, depression will be the leading cause of death – WHO

New Delhi, April 05, 2017: on the verge of the World Health Day which is marked on 7th April 2017, highlighting ‘Depression’ as the theme of the year.

Mr. Varun Khanna, Co-Chair , FICCI Health Services Committee says ” It is time for us to prioritize mental health that is an economic challenge holding back prosperity and manage it sensibly and cohesively”

“Depression is perhaps a difficult and unaddressed health challenge of our age that we have failed to recognize so far. It is a deep-seated thinking to observe “World Health Day 2017” with Depression: Let’s talk as the theme. According to the World Health Organisation, one in four of us will have a mental illness at some point in our lifetime. WHO predicts that by 2030, depression will be the leading cause of death in the world. Government’s new national health policy on mental health is a great move towards creating a comfortable environment for patients with mental illness problems.
