New Delhi, October 04, 2017: On the occasion of World Heart DayCalifornia Walnut Commission participated in 12th World Congress on Clinical, Preventive Cardiology & Imaging – 2017 (WCCPCI 2017)” which was organized by World Heart Academy (WHA), International Society of Cardiovascular Ultrasound, USA (ISCU), World Wellness Foundation (WWF) and American Association of Cardiologists of Indian Origin, USA (AACIO), Indian Academy of Echocardiography (IAE), CSI Delhi Branch, ASSOCHAM and SCOPE.

The three-day event organized from September 29th Sept – 1st Oct, 2017 in Amritsar provided a platform for cardiologists and lifestyle experts to extrapolate upon why this killer epidemic is occurring and what more can be done to curb it.

The key highlight of the event was the presentation by renowned cardiologist, Dr. H. K. Chopra, Org. Chairman, WCCPCI-2017, wherein he talked about the benefits of California Walnuts.

Dr. Chopra said, “California Walnuts are an ideal choice for a balanced diet plan and may help to offset some of the impacts of junk food being consumed by millions of Indians these days. There is enough research to support that daily intake of walnuts can reduce the risk of coronary heart diseases. Walnuts are one of the richest sources of omega 3 fatty acids, with 2.5 grams of alpha linolenic acid (ALA) per serving. ALA is the plant based form of omega-3 fatty acid that the body does not produce and must be obtained through the diet. Walnuts also contain numerous vitamins and minerals including magnesium, phosphorus, selenium, gamma tocopherol. They contain several antioxidants and polyphenols, which provide multiple health benefits. Walnuts reduce bad cholesterol and increase good cholesterol.”

In addition to experts from India, the scientific forum also saw participation from international faculty from American College of Cardiology (ACC), American Association of Cardiologists of Indian Origin (AACIO) & American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) with a staggering number of over 5000 attendees. The conference highlighted and shared the growth in the field of clinical, preventive, cardiology, Imaging, electrophysiology, echocardiography intravascular ultrasound, interventional cardiology and cardiac surgery.
