The Dr. BR and CR Shetty Foundation launched in Bengaluru; MoU signed with leading NGOs of India

Bengaluru, August 01, 2018: Abu Dhabi based philanthropists Dr. BR Shetty and Dr. CR Shetty launched the Dr. BR and CR Shetty Foundation in Bengaluru today coinciding with the Year of Zayed being celebrated this year in UAE and globally. Headquartered in Bengaluru, the foundation’s work will focus in the areas of Education, Health, Poverty Alleviation and Community Empowerment. Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) were signed announcing partnership with leading Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) including The Akshaya Patra Foundation, Wockhardt Foundation, Isha Vidhya, Selco Foundation, Mentric Training Consulting and Indian Cancer Society and to implement the programs.

The Shetty couple believe that it is society which nurtures you and so it is your duty to give back to the society. The philanthropic activities of Dr. Shetty and family will be channelized through the foundation.

Dr. BR Shetty, Chairman Emeritus, The Dr. BR and CR Shetty Foundation shared, “The endeavors of my wife, Dr. Chandrakumari and I have been to serve people at large and I am delighted that through the foundation we can expand the boundaries of our outreach programs and positively impact several lives.”

Dr. BR and Dr. CR Shetty recently signed the ‘Giving Pledge’, an initiative that prompts the world’s wealthy to donate half or more than half of their wealth to charitable causes.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Binay Shetty, Managing Trustee Dr. BR and CR Shetty Foundation said, “My family believes in enhancing people’s lives and our goal is to help those in challenging situations. The value that ‘One should be of service to mankind’ have been deeply instilled in us. We are excited to partner with reputable NGOs doing some great work in the development space. I am confident that they will help in achieving our goals.
