Equipping Hospitals to Handle Natural Disasters

New Delhi, April 27, 2016:Since health is a State subject, no such information is maintained centrally and it is the responsibility of the respective State Government/Union Territory to make provision in this regard. There is no proposal under consideration of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare at this stage to ask all the State Government to make at least one hospital in a district fully equipped with to handle any natural disaster.

However, on the requests of the State Government, the Central Government sends teams of experts/doctors, equipment, medicines etc. at the time of disaster to help the State Government to handle any medical emergencies.

As far as the Central Government Hospitals namely, Safdarjung Hospital, Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital and Lady Hardinge Medical College & associated hospitals are concerned, they are fully prepared to face any natural disaster.
