Speaking about the launch of the Clinic, Dr Arulvanan said, ”Today, obesity has become far more widespread especially among urban dwellers. The biggest concern is that most obese people don’t recognise the risk they are at, for correlated serious ailments such as heart disease, diabetes and stroke. In the past year, I have seen a 65 percent increase in the number of patients who have come with obesity-related ailments.
”Observing this trend, we, at Fortis, understood that it was imperative to bring together specialists who can treat obesity holistically,” he added. Dr Kulkarni also spoke on the occasion. –United News of India
