Bangalore, March 12, 2017: International Women’s Week is being observed across the world right now. It is a time when women are feted for their achievements and their roles in society. There is, however, a set of women to whom fate may have dealt an unfair hand. The constant barrage of chemicals and medication that a patient of cancer has to endure can break even the most buoyant of spirits.
At a time when the world salutes the women of the world, Hairline International Hair and Skin Clinic, for the third year in a row, came forward to make a tangible difference in the lives of 100 women today at the Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology, by pledging to donate 100 wigs across a period of one year. At the press event today, announcing this pledge, Hairline International donated the wigs to women patients of chemotherapy, at the Kidwai Seminar Hall. These wigs were provided to the patients by Dr. Premalatha, Dermatosurgeon, Hairline International and Dr. Linge Gowda K. B -Director of Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology. Also, present at this event were, Dr. Janet Parameshwar – Chief Social Welfare Office, Dr. Jagannath – Resident Medical Officer and Dr. U. D. Bafna – the Medical Super independent.
Speaking about this event, Ms. Bani Anand, Founder and Managing Director, Hairline International Hair and Skin Clinic said, “Cancer is an ailment that often manifests itself with the loss of hair. For women, especially, this can be a source of dejection, depression and low self-esteem. These wigs will help women regain a semblance of their earlier selves, giving them the emotional fortitude to battle their ailment with a positive outlook.”
Dr. Linge Gowda K.B, Director of Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology said, “Many of the patients who come to us are in the different stages of cancer. With Chemotherapy as means to improving quality of life and even placing a patient in remission. Loss of hair is inevitable and this leads to low self-esteem. With these wigs, we can be rest assured that we have made things better for some women in the list.”
