Ahmedabad, October 16, 2023: Observing Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, HCG Cancer Centre Ahmedabad, in association with the Amdavad Distance Runners Association, organized a walkathon and run to raise awareness about breast cancer and encourage early detection. The event was flagged off by Ms Jagruti Gohil (Jhanvi), breast cancer survivor, activist, and avid runner, in the presence of Mr Gautham CB, Chief Operating Officer and Dr. DG Vijay, Senior Surgical Oncologist at HCG Cancer Centre Ahmedabad. The start and end point of the walkathon and run was the upcoming HCG Cancer Centre, opposite Bhagwat Vidhyapith, Sola, covering a distance of 10 km, 3km and 5km.
More Than 800 participants from different walks of life enthusiastically participated including the public, doctors and staff members from HCG. With the theme “Walk for Hope/Run for a Cure”, the event aimed to create awareness to stay proactive and take the necessary steps to fight against breast cancer. The occasion demonstrated a strong sense of community involvement, with participants donning pink T-shirts to express their solidarity with the cause of breast cancer awareness and advocating for early detection.
Speaking at the occasion Mr. Gautham CB, Chief Operating Officer, HCG Cancer Centre Ahmedabad, commented, “At HCG, creating awareness about breast cancer is not merely a responsibility; it is our profound commitment to building a healthier future. Ms. Jagruti Gohil, Breast Cancer Survivor and Activist shared her inspiring story and said, ” It’s truly an honour to be associated with HCG Cancer Centre Ahmedabad and to be participating in this walkathon and run for breaking the stigma, empowering, and educating women on the importance of early screening for combating breast cancer. I thank HCG for taking this initiative and spreading awareness about breast cancer.”
