Henkel India Unveils Dedicated Researchers’ World Lab in India

Pune, November 11, 2024: Henkel Adhesives Technologies India Private Limited (Henkel India) announces the opening of its Researchers’ World lab at Shardashram School in Shirgaon, Pune. Researchers’ World, Henkel’s signature global education initiative introduces children to the world of science with the aim of awakening their enthusiasm for the STEM subjects. This lab, established under Henkel’s India CSR plan for 2024-25, was inaugurated by S. Sunil Kumar, President of Henkel India and Prakash Deole, the founder of Shardashram School. The event was graced by Mr. Sanjay Naikade, Education Officer of Maval.

Henkel Researchers’ World focuses on sparking curiosity in children of ages 8 – 10 years and takes a holistic approach towards teaching and learning by putting children in the role of an actual researchers. The Researchers’ World lab at Shardashram School can accommodate 20 students at a time. This lab will support around 40 nearby schools. Each session comprises a briefing on the experiment, equipment usage, and safety measures, followed by hands-on activities where students document their observations and discuss them with facilitators. Over a year, students will complete 12 experiments, guided by Henkel employees from Pune who volunteer as teachers at the Researchers’ World lab.

Commenting on the inauguration, S. Sunil Kumar stated, “At Henkel India, we are thrilled to launch the Lab at Shardashram School. As part of our commitment to fostering thriving communities, Henkel Researchers’ World aims to bridge the gap in STEM education by making it accessible to all children. Without practical exposure and demonstration, the real essence of science cannot be experienced or perpetrated. To provide children with an opportunity to unleash their inquisitive minds and channelize their scientific/ researcher-like temperament, Henkel introduced Researchers’ World. This initiative will go a long way in igniting a passion for science in the young minds, encouraging them to be curious and developing a spirit of discovery.”

The Researchers’ World initiative has now been successfully implemented in 20 countries, and the addition of India marks an exciting expansion of this global program. Since its inauguration at Henkel’s Düsseldorf headquarters in April 2011, more than 100,000 children around the world have taken part in Henkel’s Researchers’ World programs. The initiative aims to focus on applying scientific methods to everyday life, such as critical testing, analysis, interpretation of data, science and creativity.

Henkel’s CSR efforts in India are focused on supporting students from underprivileged backgrounds by providing essential learning opportunities through such dedicated labs. Additionally, Henkel has collaborated with Shardashram School on various initiatives, including an Astronomy Lab, sustainability education, career guidance, sports, and cultural programs.
