Mumbai, May 10, 2022: India’s leading Pharma Company in the oral healthcare segment – ICPA Health Products Ltd (ICPA) hosted its latest interactive online session led by guest speaker Dr Nisha Deshpande on unravelling Anterior Composites. The 14th episode of the Clinical Series offered simple solutions to common challenges faced by dentists in anterior composite restoration procedures. A recipient of post-graduate certificate in Aesthetic dentistry with International certification in advanced Aesthetic and Restorative dentistry, Dr Deshpande helped decode diastema closures, invisible proximal restorations and simplified class 4 restorations for the participants.
Modern anterior composite restorations have evolved as a win-win situation for the patient and the dentist. The patient benefits from minimally invasive protocols while the dentist can channel their clinical skills and artistry.
To avoid the effects of dehydration which make the teeth appear lighter, Dr Nisha Deshpande advised that shade selection for anterior composites be done before isolation. Further, the doctor also stressed on the importance of maintaining a smooth bevel for achieving seamless restoration margins for proximal and class 4 restorations. She also recommended that last level of composite be cured under a barrier like glycerine gel to completely cure the oxygen inhibited layer. Among other recommendations, Dr Deshpande suggested checking curing light at regular intervals to ensure its efficacy and following proper finishing and polishing protocols in the correct sequence to increase longevity of restorations.
For the benefit of dentists who may have missed out, the session is available across ICPA’s various social media platforms, including YouTube, Facebook and LinkedIn.
‘ICPA Clinical Series‘ is an initiative to address specific clinical challenges dentists face in their everyday practice. Themed’ Each Episode-One Clinical Challenge,’ the series is moderated by ICPA’s Technical Head of Marketing – Dr Rajeev Chitguppi. Each session in the series has a guest speaker chosen from specialists from various domains of dentistry.
