Indian firm wins deal to build new Dubai health centre


New Delhi February 24, 2014:-
 The Middle East unit of Indian conglomerate Shapoorji Pallonji has been appointed as main contractor for a new medical centre based in Dubai Healthcare City.

The facility, which is being built for the Dr Sulaiman Al Habib Group, will provide 175,000 square feet of healthcare space arranged over six floors with three basement levels for parking.

The 200-bed facility will feature an integrated centre for cardiac surgery, along with diagnostic clinics and a cardiac catheterisation unit, the company said.

It was said that Arif and Bintoak Architects and Engineers, whose previous projects include the Mohammad Bin Rashid Academic Medical Centre has been appointed as consultant.

MD Saini, managing director and CEO of Shapoorji Pallonji International, said: “It is an honour to be have been appointed main contractor for such an important facility.

Having built our first hospital in the UAE in 1980 in Abu Dhabi, we’re proud that over thirty years later we continue to support healthcare in the market with the same diligence.”

Shapoorji Pallonji is headquartered between Mumbai and Dubai and employs over 230,000 staff in 25 countries worldwide.

With its roots firmly planted in the construction sector, the company turns over in excess of $3 billion per annum and has projects in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Iraq, Algeria, Ghana and Nigeria as well as its home market.
