New Delhi, March 11, 2025: In a groundbreaking development for Indian healthcare, SS Innovations has introduced the country’s first mobile tele-surgical unit, the SSI MantraM, at the Second Global SSI Multi-Speciality Robotic Surgery Conference (SMRSC) 2025, held at The Leela, Gurgaon.
The unveiling of SSI MantraM marks a significant leap in the field of robotic surgery and telemedicine, enabling advanced surgical procedures to reach remote and underserved regions of the country. Equipped with high-speed connectivity and real-time telesurgery capabilities, the unit seamlessly integrates the SSI Mantra Surgical Robotic System, facilitating expert surgical interventions irrespective of geographical barriers.
Dr. Sudhir Srivastava, Founder, Chairman, and CEO of SS Innovations, described the initiative as a step towards decentralising world-class surgical care. “SSI MantraM is not just a mobile telesurgical unit; it represents a movement towards making robotic-assisted surgery accessible to all. With advanced telecommunication and satellite connectivity, we are ensuring that life-saving procedures reach those in need, breaking geographical constraints,” he stated.
The SMRSC 2025 conference brought together over 1,200 medical professionals, including leading experts from various specialities, to discuss advancements in robotic surgery. Notable global figures, such as theoretical physicist Dr. Michio Kaku, innovator and education reformist Mr. Sonam Wangchuk, and surgical robotics pioneer Dr. Fredric Moll, participated in discussions shaping the future of medical technology.
One of the major highlights of the event was a historic telesurgery demonstration conducted over a distance of 1,700 km. The procedure was performed remotely from SS Innovations’ headquarters in Gurgaon and assisted on-site at Aster CMI Hospital in Bangalore. This achievement underscores India’s growing capabilities in remote surgical care, positioning the country as a leader in robotic surgery innovations.
Dr. Michio Kaku lauded the initiative, stating, “This moment will be recognised as the beginning of a new era in robotic surgery. With SS Innovations at the forefront, we are witnessing a revolution that will transform the medical landscape globally.” Similarly, Dr. Fredric Moll praised the SSI Mantra system’s rapid development and technological prowess, emphasizing its potential to redefine precision-driven surgical advancements.
The conference also featured discussions on the role of artificial intelligence in robotic surgery, live telesurgeries, and tele-proctoring sessions across various specialities, including oncology, urology, cardiothoracic surgery, and general surgery.
The event concluded with a cultural performance by renowned Sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, adding an artistic touch to an otherwise technology-driven gathering.
With the launch of SSI MantraM and the successful execution of remote telesurgery, SS Innovations continues to push the boundaries of medical technology, reinforcing India’s status as a hub for cutting-edge healthcare solutions.
