IPLEX 2018 concluded The Four day, South India’s biggest exhibition on Plastics has a done a roaring business worth INR 600crore

Hyderabad, August 11, 2018: IPLEX 2018, the four day South India’s biggest exhibition on Plastics concluded this evening.

The expo which began on 3rd August, registered a record business of worth Rs 600crore. According to Anil Reddy Vennam, Chairman, Advisory Committee of IPLEX 2018 all the machines displayed were sold out.  Nearly 120 machines small, medium and large were on display and worked live. All those machines worth Rs 200crore are sold out. Additionally each of those exhibitors who sold their machines also got firm orders anywhere from one unit to 14 units, resulting additional business worth Rs 400crore, added Anil Reddy.

The exhibition has drawn quality 50,000 B2B visitors.  According to many exhibitors, it was one of the best and well organized space.

The exhibition was organized in a record space of 12,500 sq meters in four different halls. It is by far the largest ever organized in its history.

350 exhibitors showcased their products, machinery, equipment.

The  IPLEX is rotationally held once a year in major centers of South India-Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru and Kochi. The event provides a common platform for participants in the plastic industry- manufactures, dealers, buyers and end-users. It helps visitors and industry stay updated with the latest technological trends, he added.

It was organised by TAAPMA—Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Plastics Manufacturers Association.  The 9th edition of  IPLEX’18, was supported by the industries across India & Globe. It has the patronage from the major polymer producers and Govt. of India along with local governments. Plast India Foundation; AIPMA, Indian Plastics Federation; Indian Plastics Institution; Gujarat State Plastics Manufacturers Association and others support the event.

Some of the exhibitors include: Gail India Ltd; ONGC Petro Additions Ltd; XL Plastics; Toshiba Machines; Sudhakar PVC Products Pvt Ltd; Kabra Extrusion Technik Ltd, Alpha Industries, Ambica Engineering & Wire Industries, Aqua Plast, Capitol Colours, Centaur Techplast Pvt. Ltd, Chamunda Equipments, Gaurav Engineering, HPCL Mittal Energy Ltd, Neo Plast Engineering Pvt. Ltd , S.Amit Speciality Chemicals Ltd etc and others.

KT Rama Rao, Minister of Govt of TS, inaugurated, IPLEX 2018.  The Inaugural function was graced by Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary, Govt of TS; Avinash Kumar Verma, Executive Director(Petrochemicals), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd; Hiten Bheda, President of All India Plastics Manufacturers Association; Dr. Prof. SK Nayak, Venugopal Jasti, Anil Reddy Vennum and others.

The industry was unperturbed by the bad publicity it got and banning some of its products by some state governments.  Plastics is here to stay until such time that an alternative material id invented, they observed.

There are good and bad uses of plastics. The future of plastics depend on reusing the bad and encouraging the good, added Anil Reddy Vennam.  Use of waste plastic materials such as waste plastic bottles, bags, wrappers in road construction is taken up big elsewhere in the world and in India.   Plastic roads are roads made either entirely of plastic or of composites of plastic with other materials

Though Government made it mandatory for all road developers in the country to use waste plastic, along with bituminous mixes, for road construction not much progress is made in this direction. This will help overcome the growing problem of plastic waste disposal in India.  Not much headway is made in Telugu States too.  Government must look at it very seriously.

The Union Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) in the year 2016 notified the new Solid Waste Management Rules (SWM). These rules are not implemented strictly.  As a Plastics Manufacturers Association we are committed to this informed Anil Reddy.
