Manipal University, Manipal Health Enterprises Pvt Ltd and Wipro GE Healthcare Pvt Ltd have signed a memorandum of expression of intent (MoEI) in healthcare.
A press release issued by the university said here that the MoEI intends to provide a learning platform to a resource pool for skill creation and enhancement needs to bridge the skill gap in the healthcare industry to deliver better quality of care to the patients.
As a first step, Manipal University and GE Healthcare will soon commence a one-year radiographic course in X-ray application. To empower women, candidates from economically weaker sections will be given priority in the training and will also be provided scholarships, the release said.
The MoEI also envisages development of other training programmes for skill development in healthcare, it said.
The Registrar of Manipal University, GK Prabhu, signed the memorandum on behalf of Manipal University, and the President and CEO of GE Healthcare India, Terri Bresenham, signed on behalf of Wipro GE Healthcare Pvt Ltd. The Managing Director and CEO of Manipal Hospitals, Ajay Bakshi, signed MoEI on behalf of Manipal Health Enterprises Pvt Ltd, the release added.
