MediBuddy-DocsApp records a surge in Gastroenterology consultations in recent months

~A growth of 78% in gastroenterology consultations suggests that the Covid 19 could be a contributor ~

National, September 06, 2020: Gastroenterology problems are quite common amongst individuals. The reasons for such problems can range from a diet with low fiber content to consuming oily or excessively spicy food. It is a fact that even issues like tension and stress can be the cause of gastroenterology related issues.

Data compiled by MediBuddy-DocsApp, India’s largest digital healthcare platform, reveals that since the onset of the COVID-19 the portal has seen an overall growth of about 78% in the number of people seeking consultations on issues relating to Gastroenterology. Majority of those people – 76.34% – were males, with the balance 23.66% being females. The consultations pertained to a variety of problems like abdominal pain (17.01%), constipation (8.10%), loose motion (19.26%) and nausea (10.11%). Gastritis was the most common problem (45.26%) and thyroid, the least common one (0.25%).

Further analysis showed that those seeking online medical help for the gastroenterology issues belonged to diverse age categories. Over 50% belonged to the age group 20-29 and 3.07% were in the 60 and above bracket. Surprisingly, the youngsters, the below 19 also were troubled by these issues and constituted 6.91% of the pie.

“At MediBuddy-DocsApp, it is our continuous endeavour to provide accessible healthcare to people across the length and breadth of the country. We are trying our best to address all kinds of health problems, so as to continue being a holistic healthcare platform of choice for our users” Mr. Satish Kannan, Co-Founder and CEO, MediBuddy-DocsApp.

The platform has been actively recording the significant surges in medical consultations across various departments, post the onset of the COVID-19. The effects of COVID-19 have been widespread, and the  recent data compilation suggests that there can be a strong relation between the lifestyle-induced by the pandemic and the changes in the pattern of consultations related to stomach and intestinal issues.
