Messe Frankfurt India’s new conference to address counterfeiting challenge in the Pharma sector

New Delhi, November 16, 2015: Messe Frankfurt Trade Fairs India Pvt. Ltd. is ready to roll out the first edition of its high level conference on Anti-Counterfeiting and Brand Protection – Pharmasafe India, this month.

The two day conference focused on best practices to counter counterfeiting challenge in the Pharma sector will bring speakers from a cross section of the industry to divulge strategies and identify solutions to slowdown the pace of USD 4.25 billion (INR 65675.5 crores) fake drugs market for safeguarding public health. Also, with the industry set to cross USD 10 billion (INR 27912 crores) by 2017, the dent it can cause on brand reputation remains one of the biggest concerns of the corporate sector.

With over 100 core industry representatives from top pharmaceutical companies, anti-counterfeiting technology experts and solution providers, customs, government and regulatory authorities and leading industry bodies such as Organization of Pharmaceutical Producers of India (OPPI), Indian Drug Manufacturers Association (IDMA), Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA), Federation of Pharma Entrepreneurs (FOPE) as well as speakers from Abbott Healthcare ACG Worldwide, Sanofi, Boehringer Ingelheim India, Fourrts India Laboratories, Indian Pharmaceutical Association, PRS Permacel, HP Indigo and Inkjet Solutions on board, the issues addressed will be the common voice of the industry to tackle sub-standard medications in a synergised manner.

Messe Frankfurt has been the first trade fair organiser worldwide to launch an initiative against brand and product piracy: “Messe Frankfurt against Copying” which aims to ensure that exhibitors and visitors are fully informed and advised about the registration and assertion of intellectual property rights. In India, Messe Frankfurt has been actively involved in addressing the rising concerns on counterfeit products sold in the automotive aftermarket together with the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA). Extending this initiative to the Indian pharma sector, Messe Frankfurt aims to draw attention to the Source of Counterfeit Medicines and effective Initiatives, Regulations, and policies that can curb the sub-standard medication menace through Pharmasafe India
