Bengaluru, November 16, 2018: The important causes of menstrual irregularities are due hormonal imbalance, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), obesity, fibroids, polyps, infections, cancer and medications. Out of which obesity reports more than the other causes. All these problems lead to hormonal changes leading to uterine inner lining and the muscle layer problems.
India has reported as high as 36% prevalence of PCOS among adolescent girls. The present generation due to globalization, there is a drastic change from healthy eating habits to poor eating habits, stressful life and sedentary lifestyle which are major concern on the increasing menstrual problems. Menstrual dysfunction is a common cause of referral to the gynaecology clinic and the problem has a considerable impact on the health status and the quality of life of women.
Ultrasonography is easily available diagnostic modality for diagnosing the uterine problems. However some of the inner lining pathologies can even be missed with ultrasonography, with the evolution of hysteroscopy (high definition camera) helps in diagnosing and treating in day care with more accuracy. In hysteroscopy using high definition camera is inserted in to the uterine cavity helps to pick up the inner lining problem like polyps, inner lining fibroids etc without cutting the abdomen and also helps to treat at the same sitting.
To create an awareness about this, Sakra World Hospital is conducting a “Hands-on-Hysteroscopy workshop”, on 18th November 2018 at Novotel Hotel, Marathahalli which aims to strengthen the practitioners’ to have knowledge in see and treat-Hysteroscopy. This workshop will be open for PG students and medical practitioners from different hospitals. This will help to deal with the rising issues in the diagnosis of inner lining problems of uterus.
