Bengaluru, October 04, 2016: Narayana Health network of hospitals in Bengaluru extended the World Heart Day campaign to observe ‘World Heart Week’ keeping the theme of ‘Power Your Life’. A ‘Cyclothon’ was organized from KTPO, Convention Center, Whitefield today in which more than 300 people participated including doctors and staff from Narayana Health Network of Hospitals apart from a large number of young IT professionals and residents of Whitefield, Bangalore. The Cyclothon event was flagged off by Venkatesh Prasad, former Indian cricketer and Aishani Shetty, Kannada Cine Actress.
As one of the leading cardiac and multispeciality hospital chain in India, Narayana Health Network in Bengaluru organized this Cyclothon event to create awareness about cardiovascular diseases. Similar to how we take care of our financial, emotional and physical needs; our heart also must be given the care it deserves to keep it healthy. The initiative aims to imbibe healthy habits with a healthy and positive mind that can improve the quality of life and make a difference.

Narayana Health network of hospitals conducted various outreach cardiac screening camps during the last one year that benefited more than 44,000 people according to data shared by NH network of hospitals in Bangalore. Around 336 free screening camps were conducted in the last one year in which more than 44,000 people were screened for cardiac ailments and among these around 3500 were detected with serious heart problems that were treated at the hospital. Among these patients 540 were women and 300 of them had pre-existing health conditions such as diabetes or hypertension, according to a press release issued by the hospital.
Some of the symptoms include chest discomfort, pain spreading to the arm, throat or jaw pain, swelling in the legs, feet or ankles and irregular heart beat. Heart attack may occur without any symptoms also warn doctors.
The Cyclothon event was organized by Narayana Health Network of hospitals, Heart Centres and Clinics located in Bommasandra (Hosur Road), Electronic City, HSR Layout, Whitefield, Indiranagar, Mattikere, Nrupathunga Road (Central Bangalore) and Sarjapur.
