National medicinewise awards: call for entries

Bengaluru, March 16, 2016: Entries and nominations are now open for the 2016 National Medicinewise Awards—the only awards to recognise contributions to quality use of medicines, medical tests and health technologies.

The biennial National Medicinewise Awards will be presented by NPS MedicineWise as part of this year’s National Medicines Symposium to be held in Canberra from 19-20 May 2016.

NPS MedicineWise CEO Dr Lynn Weekes says that individuals, groups and organisations may submit an entry to recognise their own achievements or the achievements of others.

“There’s fantastic work happening across Australia to meet the challenges of improving quality use of medicines, medical tests and technologies. We’re keen to hear about these outstanding projects, services, programs and activities,” says Dr Weekes.

“Whether your background is in clinical settings, private industry, academia, government, consumer or not-for-profit organisations, all those that are involved in making Australia more medicinewise are welcomed to apply,” she says.

“It’s always tremendous to see leading consumer and health professional programs be recognised alongside excellence in e-health and media reporting, and the quality of previous years’ winning entries has always been exceptional.”

The award categories are:

 Consumer initiatives: community level

 Consumer initiatives: population level

 Health professional programs: <$100,000 budget
