New Labelling Rules by US FDA for Indian Drug Manufacturers to Help Pregnant and Breastfeeding Women

New Delhi, Dec 26, 2014: Many of the Pregnant and breastfeeding women do not have access to details regarding the prohibited drugs which could result in pregnancy problems thereby affecting the health of mother and her child. This has led US FDA to develop new set of rules for labelling drugs, medications, and supplements which manufacturing companies have to follow.

According to these rules, prescription drugs and biologic drug manufacturers are required to print detailed labels including information such as how products may affect the health of pregnant and breastfeeding women, how taking these products can affect the health of very young children etc.

The new set of rules have been issued to provide the doctors and patients with more information about the possible risks of taking the inhibited products during pregnancy and breast feeding as well as to help women in determining the safety of a particular drug, medication or supplements.IGMPI (http://www.igmpiindia.org/)
