NILKAMAL partners with MMRDA to fight Covid-19 crisis

~ Helps set-up a 1000 bed makeshift hospital at Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) in record time~

Mumbai, May 16, 2020: India’s Favourite Furniture Brand, NILKAMAL has partnered with Government of Maharashtra’s, Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) to help set-up a makeshift emergency hospital by supplying 1000 COVID Quarantine Beds, mattresses, and other furniture. This facility is the first of its kind in India and has been set up in a record time of 2 weeks. The infrastructure including the beds has been developed keeping in mind the comfort and convenience of the patients.

The Innovative Stackable Bed Design of Nilkamal’s COVID Quarantine Bed is a result of the brand’s dedicated design and development team. They came together to brainstorm practical and workable solutions, while working round-the-clock, despite the challenges of working from home. Besides being cost effective these beds are ready for use. This avoids the cumbersome task of product assembly. These beds are also easy to use, store and transport. The bed comes along with a multipurpose cabinet that helps in storage, dining and further as a bedside table.

Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Ajay Agarwal, VP Operations, Nilkamal Limited said, “On behalf of residents of Mumbai, we are thankful to the MMRDA for the swiftness of their action in creating this mammoth makeshift hospital with such great prowess. This has been exhibited through the MMRDA’s Operations Committee’s ability in swift decision making, its clarity of mind, strict demand for quality and tight delivery timelines. The project was commissioned in record time and with a keen eye on attention to detail. We are grateful to the MMRDA for believing in our capabilities and extending to us an opportunity, to do our bit. We are proud of our team that despite numerous challenges and limitations, we have been able to deliver successfully on this project and well before the timelines. We stand together in solidarity with the Government of Maharashtra, MMRDA and all bodies in this fight against COVID-19.”

Nilkamal’s quarantine and isolation beds are already in use at various hospitals across the country in Jharkhand, Solapur, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Thane. Apart from these, many more beds are under installation across different locations. Nilkamal has further introduced a wide array of exclusive products to support the fight against Covid-19 including Hand Wash Stations, VirusGUARD partitions & TravelGUARD partitions. The latest introduction is the Quick Covid bed that is most economical and takes less than 5 minutes to assemble and install.
