On World Head & Neck Cancer Day, ICPA Hosts Clinical Series’ Episode On Oncodentistry

08 AUGUST 2022 , MUMBAI : On World Head & Neck Cancer Day, India’s leading Pharma Company in the oral healthcare segment – ICPA Health Products Ltd (ICPA) hosted a special interactive online session on the subject of Oncodentistry. Part of its Clinical Series initiative, the latest episode had Dr B. Srinivasan, MDS (Prosthodontics) maxillofacial prosthodontist as the guest speaker. The 16^th episode of the Clinical Series highlighted the role of a General Dentist in head and neck rehabilitation. Dr Srinivasan shared insights with aspiring dentists on including Oncodentistry in their practice and shared simple and quick ways to getting started and its long term value additional to a dentist’s practice.

Head and Neck Rehabilitation is one of the biggest unmet needs of cancer and other patients in India. With the solution to many of the problems lying with general dentists, they can utilize 90 per cent of their existing skill sets and knowledge, tweak 5 per cent and train 5 per cent to be able to address the need of an entirely new pool of patients. Although the term Oncodentistry pertains specifically to cancer patients, the scope of Dr Srinivasan’s ‘Enhance Head and Neck Rehabilitation’ mission goes beyond cancer, and includes birth defects, trauma and infections as well. Newer advancements have enabled ‘Enhance’ to leverage digital technology to treat patients remotely. Dr Srinivasan recommended dentists to join the mission, start initially with patient referral to Enhance, and slowly make the transition to become ‘care providers’ with periodic training.

Vice President of the International Society for Maxillofacial Rehabilitation, Dr B Srinivasan also serves as a Managing Trustee of ENHANCE initiative.
