Mumbai, November 14, 2016: UBM India today launched the 5th edition of the Occupational Safety & Health (OSH) India (10th – 11th November 2016) safety show at a newer and a bigger venue this year – the CIDCO Exhibition Centre, Vashi, Navi Mumbai. The show brought together internationally renowned exhibitors, consultants, business experts and key government officials under one common platform, to discuss global best practices and seek solutions to some of the most pressing challenges in the field of workplace safety and health.
The inaugural ceremony of OSH India, 2016 took place in the presence of Key Dignitaries, Shri Sudhakar Sambhaji Sonawane, Honourable Mayor, Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation ( NMMC ); Shri Jayendra Motghare, Directorate of Industrial Safety and Health, Government of Maharashtra; Shri Ajay Pandit, Director (Technical), Office of the Textile Commissioner, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India; Smt. K. Hemalatha, Regional Executive Director, Western Region, Airports Authority of India (AAI), Govt of India; Sanjay Pathak, Director, Ordnance Factory Board, Regional Controllerate of Safety (WR) Khadki Pune, Ministry of Defence, Government of India and Mr. Yogesh Mudras, Managing Director, UBM India amidst an august industry gathering.

OSH India seeks to provide tangible solutions to a very pressing need in today’s workplace. The International Labour Organisation (ILO) and the World Health Organisation (WHO) have come up with different objectives for the subject of Occupational Safety Hazard such as the maintenance and promotion of workers’ health and working capacity; the improvement of working environment and work to become conducive to safety and health and the development of work organizations and working cultures in a direction which supports health and safety at work. These promote a positive social climate, smooth operation and enahnces productivity.

The expo includes an Innovation Zone which is a platform for exhibitors to promote and showcase novel products that will benefit the occupational safety and the health industry. It also comprises a new feature this year – a two day ‘LIVE SEMINAR’, which is a safety awareness forum where safety experts from leading safety product manufacturers will discuss and demonstrate, over the course of the expo, the latest technologies, trends and topics related to safety at workplace. Some of the topics of the Live Seminar included — Excavating Responsibility; How can you ensure safety at work place (practical case studies); protective coveralls :body protection (standards and practicability ); Explanation of Cosmos and products lineup / Q&A ; Principles on Fall Protection : focus engineering fall protection ; safety lighting : Atex, US standards and Indian standards and Ergonomics amongst others.
This year’s power-packed conference shared and ideated on global best practice with delegates whilst the accompanying exhibition helped identify solutions to the most pressing challenges in the workplace safety and health domain. The key sessions and panel discussions at the conference were attended by industry experts from across the country and leading international organizations. The topics of discussion on Day 1 at the conference included: ‘OSH Challenges in India and the Way Ahead’, ‘Globalisation and The Changing World of Work’, An Integrated Approach to Worker Health’ a case study on ‘How Good leadership Can Drive Improvements in Process Safety’ and presentations on ‘Vision Zero: From Vision to Reality’ and ‘Behaviour Based Safety Management’.
