PCI Sponsored 3 Days Continuing Education Programme at B N University, Udaipur

New Delhi, September 09, 2018: B.N. College of Pharmacy, Udaipur organized three days (29-31 August 2018) CONTINUING EDUCATION PROGRAMME (CEP-2018) at B. N. University Seminar Hall on “CHALLENGES AND INNOVATIONS IN TEACHING AND LEARNING METHODS IN PHARMACY EDUCATION” which was sponsored by Pharmacy Council of India.

The program commenced with the introduction and felicitation of all the dignitaries on and off the dais with a bouquet and then lamp lighting was done before Maa Saraswati by all respected guests. Students of B. Pharma enchanted the Saraswati Vandana.

Dr. Swarnlata Saraf,Professor, University Institute of Pharmacy, Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur, was Chief Guest of CEP-2018 while Dr M S Rathore , Secretary, Vidya Pracharini Sabha, and Dr Mohbbat singh Rathore gave the presidential address. The other dignitaries on the dais were Dr M. S. Ranawat. Dean Faculty of Pharmacy and Dr C. S. Chauhan , Associtae dean, Faculty of Pharmacy, B N University.

Y.S Sarangdevot, Associate Dean, B.N University welcomed Chief Guest, The Guest of Honour, Resource persons, and Delegates of the CEP-2018 through his warm welcome speech. He said “Continuing Education Programme, CEP, 2018 is an initiative for enhancing the academic and intellectual environment in the institutions by providing faculty members with ample opportunities to upgrade themselves with the technicalities of new syllabus introduced by Pharmacy Council of India to uplift status of Pharmacy education in India. Thus the main aim of the three days CEP on Challenges and Innovations in Teaching and Learning Methods in Pharmacy Education is equipping faculty members with required skills and knowledge which would help them to update themselves with the current course”. The whole program was co-ordinated by Dr. Anju Goyal, Professor and HOD, BNIPS, Udaipur She also summarised all the activities scheduled in the three days programme. She in brief highlighted about CEP and the idea behind conducting it. The program was attended by 30 members from across India.

Dr. Indrajit Singhvi, Director , Pacific College of Pharmacy, Pacific University Udaipur was the first speaker of the programme and he delivered his lecture on Research Methodology. He focused on the ways of formatting research and review papers or compiles the research works. He said that the work of many intellects doesn’t get to see the sunshine because of lack of skills of presenting the works, so it is very much necessary to know how a work must be compiled.

Similarly there were other learned Resource persons who shared their wonderful ideas on various topics of their expertise. Dr. C. S. Chauhan, Principal, B.N Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Udaipur put forth his findings in a very elaborative way on Factorial design, an important tool of Statistics. He highlighted the concept and usefulness of Factorial designs in research works in simple and précised manner. Other gems of the program were Dr. Shailesh Sharma who presented his works on Artificial intelligence and Dr. Kashyap Nagariya , Senior Research Scientist , Cadila Health Care Ltd, Ahmedabad, who delivered his talk on Robotics with special reference to Sterile formulations. We also had Dr. K G Ramawat,Ex Prof , Deptt of Botany, MLSU,  Dr. Rakesh Patel, Pro VC , Ganpat University, Mehsana,  Dr. M P Sharma, Ex-Director, Vidhya bhavan Institute, Udaipur.  who also shared their views on different topics of Pharmaceutics, Pharmacognosy and teaching methodology.

In the three days programme, a tour to  Baanki Nursery ( forest of medicines ) was also arranged on second day. The idea behind the tour was of exploring the various medicinal plants grown in the nursery. It was a half day tour for the participants to see the natural beauty alongside learning about the plants.

All the participants got the certificates by Dr J S Ranawat, President, B N University in Valedictory ceremony of the programme. In last programme was summarized by Dr. Y S Sarangdevot, Convener of CEP-2018 and Vote of Thanks given by Dr Anju  Goyal, Co-Ordinator of the programme.  It was successfully completed with co-ordination of members of the organising committee including teaching and non teaching staffs.
