Pre-Budget Expectation – Anshul Mittal, Co-Founder, Konsult

New Delhi, January 31, 2017: “Recently demonetisation has changed the way people are paying for their medical procedures or surgical procedures. Whether they pay via using E-wallets or online transfer, there is a fee levied on that transaction. It would be a welcomed change if that transaction is not charged with any other additional fee like regular cash transactions.

Additionally, we are hoping that Finance Minister will be announcing more measures to help start-ups grow stronger by introducing more tax breaks. Though tax breaks for three years is a good initiative but it is a short time frame and many start-ups do not even reach the break-even point in the given amount of time. So, we are hopeful of few amendments in this initiative of the government.”

Konsult App

Launched in June 2015, based out of New Delhi, Konsult App isan innovative technology backed first-of-its-kind appfocused on increasing access to quality healthcare – solve the long standing problem of adequate and quality healthcare access for patients to their doctor.

Based on PNP or ‘patient not present’market model, the app allows patients to consult with their doctors in real time, without being physically present. The app is designed to save patients from hassles including travelling time and effort, long queues at hospitals and access quality healthcare or get doctor consultation on phone, from anywhere and at any time, across geographies.

Our key differentiator lies in the fact that we allow our users to choose from hundreds of qualified doctors who are registered on our platform without any prior booking or appointment. The ability to choose one’s own doctor based on their specialty, user reviews and years of experience and connect with him without the need for an appointment – is Konsult’s distinguishing and proprietary feature. We let the doctors set their consultation rates per minute and payment is instant and automatic, depending on the duration of the call. The company works with hundreds of renowned specialists from top Indian medical establishments.

Living by the mission, ‘Exceptional technology, Extraordinary care’, the brand works on three different models:

Post consultation or follow up model – Konsult App acts as an interface between doctors and their patients. Research shows that more than half of all follow ups after the first in-OPD visit can be done remotely without the patient being physically present. Many patients do not turn up physically due to constraints of time, money and convenience. This is where Konsult comes in the scene. Consultations through Konsult are cheaper as the patient only pays based on the duration of his call with the doctor. It also allows patients and doctors to share medical documentation for review and opinion through an in-built chatting interface.

Second opinion: Konsult is ideal for patients looking to take a second opinion, especially in case of chronic and serious ailments. The app allows patients to choose a doctor as per their choice and connect with them instantly.

Konsult offline / non-smartphone solution : The brand also caters to those patients who do not have access tointernet and smartphone. The offline solution offers the same app based solution except that it doesn’t require an app or the internet. Doctors are assigned virtual extension codes which they share with their patients who don’t have a smartphone. Such users need to buy recharge coupons and consult the doctor through Konsult’s IVR based system. This works incredibly well for patients’ based out of rural and remote areas who can now directly get in touch with their doctors sitting in metros and Tier I cities.

The company also caters to the multitude of patients who travel to India for treatment from across the world (African countries, CIS countries, Middle-East and the huge Indian expat population). The app works across 53 countries and is continuously expanding its presence.

Konsult owes its genesis to one of the Co-Founders,DrPuneetAgarwal who felt deeply for those who were unable to reach him immediately and had to wait for another appointment before they could clear their doubts. He felt the lack of a proper communication channel, more so for his international and outstation patients. He got together with the other co-founders who came in from very diverse backgrounds to set up Konsult. Instead of having a panel based system where there is call center of a few doctors and the user is connected to one of them randomly based on availability, they let the user choose from hundreds of qualified doctors.

The company is present across many countries and it is now moving towards a demographic expansion mode with increased focus on domestic, outstation and international patients from across the world.
