Rajeev Vaidya named President – South Asia at DuPont Headquarters

DuPont announces the appointment of Dr. Rajeev Vaidya as the new President – South Asia, DuPont, effective from December 15, 2011. Rajeev takes over from Balvinder S Kalsi, who will serve DuPont Headquarters in Wilmington as a leader in corporate strategy after leading DuPont in South Asia for the last six years. Rajeev joined DuPont in 1985 and has held various positions of responsibility in the Asia Pacific, including that of regional leader for the DuPont Titanium technologies, the largest business of DuPont in India, and most recently that of regional business leader for DuPont Chemicals & Fluoroproducts.

Commenting on the leadership change, Tom Connelly, Executive Vice President and Chief Innovation Officer, DuPont, said: “Under Balvinder’s leadership, DuPont India emerged as one of the fastest growing strategic markets for DuPont globally. Rajeev brings in a wealth of experience. With his years of proven leadership in both technology and business management roles, Rajeev is the perfect leader to drive the next phase of acceleration capturing India growth opportunities.”

“The growth opportunities in India are big and span many sectors including agriculture, food, alternative energy, transportation, construction, safety and protection. Our great team in India and I look forward to working with our customers and partners to build on the strong foundation laid under Balvinder’s leadership and accelerate our efforts to bring the unique science-based solutions of DuPont to serve these market needs.” said Rajeev Vaidya, the incoming President – South Asia, DuPont.

In the last six years with Balvinder at the helm, DuPont India tripled its sales revenues to nearly $1 Billion. The key milestones under his leadership include the launch of the DuPont India Innovation Centre at Pune this year, the opening of DuPont Knowledge Center and the DuPont Services Center in Hyderabad in 2008, and expanding into the markets of Bangladesh & Sri Lanka.

“This is a great time for DuPont India as we step change our pace of growth in the country and under Rajeev’s leadership the organization will grow to newer heights. While I will miss working with my India colleagues, I am excited about my new role at Corporate Plans which will enable me to stay connected to the India growth story while at the same time allowing me to contribute to the global corporate growth strategy of DuPont,” said Balvinder S Kalsi, the outgoing President – South Asia.
