Santosh Marathe transitions to the Gujarat-based hospital network following senior leadership tenures across leading healthcare organisations in India and overseas.
Ahmedabad, November 26, 2025: Sterling Hospitals has brought in senior healthcare strategist Mr. Santosh Marathe as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, a move that marks a pivotal moment for one of Gujarat’s most prominent hospital networks. The appointment places Santosh Marathe at the centre of Sterling’s next phase of expansion, operational consolidation, and infrastructure upgrades. With more than twenty years of leadership experience across major Indian and global healthcare systems, he is widely regarded for his ability to streamline large hospital networks, drive clinical performance, and strengthen organisational efficiency.
Sterling Hospitals, Gujarat’s first corporate hospital group, operates facilities in Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot, and Gandhidham. The network includes six NABH-accredited hospitals, among them two oncology units, offering a combined capacity of over 1,000 beds. Sterling Hospitals has around 200 full time clinicians practicing, while engaging with more than 1500 visiting clinicians, who all follow evidence-based practices. The organisation has been steadily modernising its facilities and evaluating new growth opportunities across the state.

Santosh Marathe is a transformative leader with over three decades of experience, holding senior leadership roles in P&L management, operations and finance across reputed organisations in India and the UAE. Most recently, Santosh was the Group COO at NMC Healthcare in the UAE. He oversaw operations across 89 facilities, including 9 tertiary care hospitals, 85 clinical specialties and 1,200 doctor practices. He managed a large workforce of over 9,000 people. Before NMC, Santosh had a seven-year stint with Apollo Hospitals as CEO for the Western Region, where he managed a network of seven quaternary care hospitals with 1,200 beds and 375 doctor practices across Maharashtra and Gujarat.
Throughout his career, Santosh has been known for his deep experience and expertise in people leadership, developing clinical programs, doctor engagement, strategic business planning and growth, patient service excellence and tech-transformation.
