Shri J P Nadda assures all support to Telangana to manage H1N1 cases

“High level team being sent to assist the State”
New Delhi, Jan 22, 2015: 
In view of the reported cases and deaths from H1N1 influenza from Telangana, the Union Health Minister Shri J P Nadda has reviewed the situation. The Minister has assured all support to the State by way of logistics and medicines to supplement its efforts to manage the cases. As part of this, the Health Minister stated that he has spoken today with the State Chief Minister, Shri K. Chandrashekar Rao and Health Minister Shri T. Rajaiah on the incidence of H1N1 cases in the state. The Minister has also reviewed the situation with the State Health Secretary, here today.

The Health Minister informed that a high level three-member team is being sent to Telangana to review the situation and give necessary technical guidance to the state. The team will leave today and hold a meeting with the state health authorities tomorrow covering availability of medicines and diagnostics, arrangements at hospitals, clustering of cases, surveillance by IDSP, sufficiency of lab facilities, preventive measures and IEC campaign. The team will submit its report on return.

The Minister informed that he has directed the officials in the Ministry to be in constant touch with all States to ensure that the situation is under control and to prevent further cases. He added that the Central Government will keep stock of medicines (Oseltamivir) for about 3000 number of patients in addition to a stock of Personal Protective Equipment to meet the sudden requirement of any State Government which has failed to procure the same.
