Styling Tools for Hair Health

New Delhi, April 30, 2019: We all know that heat generating styling tools like blow dryers, flat irons and curling rods can be really menacing for our hair health. The heat generated from the styling tools hamper the hair growth, lead to thinning and speeds up hair loss from the scalp. Styling tools are generally not advised to use on our hair for more than once a week as they also cause damage to our cuticles and impede proper hair growth.

Our hair is made up of hydrogen bonds and keratin proteins. These build-up proteins are very essential to ensure that the hair is healthy but styling tools often break down these essential bonds. They alter your hair texture and leave them dry and frizzy.

There is definitely no doubt about the fact that styling tools blemish the condition of the hair but our social obligations make them an indispensable part of our lives. Therefore, Dr. Arvind Poswal, Hair Expert and Hair Transplant Surgeon, Dr. A’s Clinic has given out some points that shall substantially reduce the effects of heat:

  1. Do Not Use Styling Tools on Wet Hair:

It is a complete NO to use flat irons or curling rods on damp hair. Heat breakdowns the hair’s essential nutrients which can be really damaging. Blow-dry your hair or let them dry naturally prior to using your heat-generating tools to reduce the harm to your hair.

  1. Always Go for Good Quality Products:

It is always advised to never compromise on what you are using on your hair. Go for iron rods that have good quality iron plates and blow dryers that have a nozzle attachment to even out the air. Invest in good quality products and ensure the health of your hair.

  1. Always Use a Heat Protectant:

Make it a habit to use a Heat Protectant before you style your hair. Look for a spray that contains Silicone as it shall act as a protective layer for your hair. Heat protectant is a must and should never be avoided if you style your hair regularly.

  1. Keep Temperature in Control:

Regulate the temperature of your heating tool according to the thickness and texture of your hair. Always try to go for lower heat settings and work your way up the temperature scale if you feel the need.

  1. Do Not Use them Frequently:

It is okay to use heating tools sometimes but not multiple times in one day. This shall only damage the hair. Experiment with different hairstyles that don’t require tools in order to create a fresh look for yourself.
