US Pharmacopoeia to invest $200 m

Hyderabad, May 28, 2015:

The US Pharmacopoeia (USP) will be ramping up its operations in India, according to KV Surendranath,The USP, a scientific non-profit organisation that sets standards for the identity, strength, quality, and purity of medicines, will be investing $200 million over next five years in consolidation of its operations.

While speaking to newspersons on the sidelines of a workshop for the Asia-Pacific chapter of the Network of Official Medicines Control Laboratories which began here on Tuesday, Surendranath said a part of this investment will also be spent in India.

The activities of the USP in India will increase including the work on medical monograph modernisation. “The future investment in India will mainly go into manpower, expansion of activities and technology,’’ he said.
